The Record Books
The record books may have had to be re-written, not just edited. Many new records were set. The wins records is the biggest one set this season, but do not let this take away from other amazing records below.
This regular season in the NBA has been no exception, with the phenomenal performances of Golden State Warriors, Steph Curry, San Antonio Spurs have tumbled league and franchise records. Teams like Philadelphia, Los Angeles Lakers on the other hand have toppled records that they’d rather have not. On 11th April 2016, Russell Westbrook recorded his 18th Triple Double of the season in a win over the Los Angeles Lakers. He ties Magic Johnson for the most triple doubles in a season, since 1976. His triple double against the Lakers came in just 18 minutes. This second fastest in NBA history. On 27th February 2016, the Golden State Warriors clinched their playoff berth when San Antonio Spurs defeated Houston that night. They beat the 1985-86 Boston team by a single day to clinch a playoff spot the fastest in NBA history. The Golden State Warriors beat the Spurs, recording their 34th road win of the season, beating the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls record for the most away wins in a season. San Antonio set the NBA record for most consecutive home wins in a season with 39 straight wins at the AT and T Center. This run came to an end with their defeat to the Golden State Warriors later that year. They would finish 40-1 at the AT and T Center, tying the 1985-86 Boston Celtics for the best home record in the NBA. On 1st April 2016, Boston defeated the Warriors at the Oracle Arena ending the Warriors undefeated home streak. It ended their undefeated regular season run at Oracle, to 54 games, back to the 2014-15 season. Kristaps Prozingis of the New York Knicks became the only player to have scored 1,000 points, recorded 500 rebounds, 100 blocks and made at least 75 3-point field goals in their rookie season. Also the Cavaliers became the first team in NBA history to come back down 3-1 in the NBA finals. These are just a few records set in this historic season.
